Our Story

K & R Thread is more than a name. It is a dedication to my sons, Kwizera and Rukundo—Faith and Love. These are the pillars upon which this house is built: faith in the artistry of craft, and love for the unique story of every individual who walks through our doors.

My journey began not in a classroom, but at the elbow of an extraordinary woman: my late aunt, Alice Bazeyo. At the age of 16, I stepped into her world at Shina Collections, a premier tailor-made boutique in East Africa. Under her patient and exacting eye, I learned that a garment is not merely constructed—it is born.

It was there, amidst the hum of sewing machines and the rustle of exquisite fabrics, that I fell in love with the alchemy of creation. I fell in love with the transformation of a two-dimensional sketch into a three-dimensional masterpiece. I fell in love with the intimate dialogue between designer and client, and the profound moment when a person sees their truest self reflected not in a mirror, but in the perfect drape of a custom-made garment.

My aunt taught me that the truest elegance lies in precision, the richest luxury lies in intention, and the most beautiful designs are those that give voice to the wearer’s spirit.

K & R Thread is the continuation of this legacy. It is a love letter to the craft she taught me, a testament of faith in the vision she helped me see in myself, and a promise to honour every client’s narrative with the same dedication and care.

This is not simply my profession. It is my heritage.
